God Jul

Hade jag cyklat skulle kaffet puttra i bryggaren as we speak. Stadsbussförbindelserna i Falun på dagtid är allt annat än roliga...

I was in the news today. In 'Lärarnas Tidning', a bi-weekly magazine for members of the swedish teacher's union, Lärarförbundet. It was a combination of a personal portrait and an article about my view on the new teacher licence, which is now being implemented over a three year period here in Sweden.

In effect, the license renders your teacher education worthless until you've worked a sort of probation year and then gotten the necessary letter of approval from your mentor so you can apply for the license (at a cost). And then, but only then, you are a full fledged teacher.

The whole reform has been rushed and it's based on the notion that teachers are responsible for any faults a school might have. Ever. I don't like this and feel like it's a governmental control instrument designed to look harmless.

Translating stuff the Chumly way

It's kind of nice to see that both Google+ and Facebook have decided to take the Chumly route and now offer the possibility to translate posts - G+ via an app in the Chrome browser and Facebook as a proper feature - just as we have done for at least a year already.

It's also a nice surprise to see that these translation features are rather basic, whilst our is more flexible and useful. Makes me feel that we're really moving in the forefront of social media management.

Speaking of which; This post is a test of the new Linked Accounts feature. If you can read it, it just might have worked. ;)

'Pushin' up Daisies' is the second movie in the history of the world to recieve economic support from me via Kickstarter. It is first and foremost a drama comedy about two brothers trying to reunite after a tragic family event. On the other hand, it's also a meta movie - a movie about a guy making a 'behind' movie for a movie. And - thirdly - it's a zombie movie. Which also happens to be the reason I went in and supported the project. With that in mind, the zombie fan should be warned, the zombie elements stay in the background for most of the movie.

It's a well made movie, albeit amateurish. That's a difficult balancing act, maybe even harder when staying close to the mainstream. The acting gets more visible, as does the dialogue and... Well, most of it. Everything needs to flow naturally. This is a problem for our filmmakers, but not as much as the actual premise.

Darren wants to record a documentary about his brother. But when the zombie apocalypse takes place he's having a hard time following the ordinary life of a flower arranger without being distracted by zombies. Darren does his best, using various camera angles and other creative solutions (like covering the zombies with sheets) to save his movie. It unfortunately gets a little silly.

But it's not a bad movie, it you keep in mind it's an amateur effort. And that it's a nice and amusing little thing.

Score: 3/5

Post from lance at CHUMLY

As far as I can see, there are still just a few people of the ones I keep tabs on that have actually moved from Facebook, Twitter or whatever to exclusively post on G+.

For myself, I still socialize with my friends over at Facebook, post regular (well...) updates on Twitter and blog all over the place. I've just added yet another channel to my social media outlets. And I think this goes for most of us.

I'm saying this because this was the major subject of many posts here a month ago. "Facebook killer" and so on. G+ is a great service, sort of a Facebook version of Twitter. But if it stops here, as "just another channel", it will divide social media, rather than conquer it.

And in the spirit of dividing, this will also be posted to Twitter, Wordpress and Blogspot via my Chumly account. Not to Facebook since I use that for normal people and not to Tumblr, since I use that for movie talk. I have my limits. ;)
